The
Consultant, Pepsi Football Academy Mr. Iain Nelson, has charged young
Nigerian footballers who seek to be relevant in the game of football to
always be focused and be dedicated.
He said this at the conclusion of the
Lagos leg of the maiden edition of the PFA National School programme,
held at the Agege stadium. The competition is part of initiatives to
mark the 20th anniversary of the Pepsi Football Academy.
He said, “For you to make meaningful
progress as a footballer, you need to be well-focused and disciplined,
besides the talent that you have been endowed with. Your future is in
your hands and you are the only one that can make it true”.
Nelson recalled that the PFA had helped a
lot of Nigerian youths fulfil their ambitions as footballers of
international repute. Some of them are Mikel Obi, Osaze Odemwingie,
Elderson Echiejile and Onyekachi Apam.
The Pepsi Football Academy National
School Programme competition further showcased the array of talents that
Nigeria is endowed with as many of the lads displayed high level of
skills and great potential in the round leather game.
Four schools participated in the
championship. They were Sango Senior Secondary School, Agege; Agidingbi
Senior Grammar School; Keke Senior High School, Ifako, Ijaiye and Ifako
International School, Iju.
